A friend is in the hospital

  • Mood: Mad as hell
  • Weather: Cloudy but no rain.
It started Wednesday.  Gwen was complaining about congestion.  She had a list of movies she wanted to see.  Most of which I was not interested in.  I like movies geared for adults.  Yes drama I can usually wait until it comes on cable, or go on Second Life if I really need a drama fix.

We got to the theater early but needed it.  She could take 2 steps and was winded as if she was running a marathon.  Had to stop, catch her breath, then take another 2 steps.

OMG between that & her inability to bend her legs she looked terrible.   Being 150 pounds overweight mostly from her mid section down was not helping.  But that inability to breath.  No, that was bad.

I was on her case all the way to the theater but didn’t realize how bad it was until I saw her struggling to do something as simple as walking into the theater.

When the movie was over and I brought the car to the front to pick her up I really blew a gasket at her about this.  She pulled over before we left the lot and made a phone call to her doctor.  They gave her an appointment the next day.

The next day I went to bring her to the doc’s. I brought my van so she could bring that electric trike that she sometimes uses.  She showed me where the contact list was for her family.

Apparently, I was not the only one.  Her cats were all over her all night. Animals are so intuitive.  We all could learn from them.

The doctor was very concerned.  He sent her straight to the hospital “Do not stop for lunch or anything.  Go straight there.” was what he said and what we did.

She was checked in.  That was then.

They found that she has blood clots in her lungs.  Very dangerous.  Had she not gotten medical attention a piece would have broken off and given her a heart attack or stroke in a couple of days.

I TOLD her this was serious!   They are trying to determine the source of the clots, so she will be there for about 3 more days.

I am taking care of her cats and that nasty bird of hers. I brought some undies and a few other supplies to her the day before yesterday.

She was on oxygen.  She was amazed at the hospital food and wanted me to read the menu.  I do not care about food so much that menu reading is something that would interest me in the slightest, unless I am at a restaurant and need to order.

Lets hope this is a wake up call for her to take better care of herself.
