Automatic phone orders need to stick to the order & stuff the sales pitches.

  • Mood: Pissed off.
  • Weather: Sunny finally.
Do these jerks that sell products with an automated order line help or hurt by keeping you on the phone for an insane amount of time to place a simple order?

I called an 800 number to buy something today.  After an LONG time to wait for the recording to finish telling me how much I would save by ordering more of these items, and how they make a great gift I think I am finally done.

Not so.  Suddenly the recording goes into other products that I have NO INTEREST IN WHAT SOEVER!

Are these people insane?  I hung up.

Look, when I want to buy something, I want to buy something.  Period.  Keeping me on the phone as a hostage will not get good results.  I do not care about any other product.  I should be able to exit after my credit card, address and number of items information is entered and be DONE with it!

Now, I don’t know if the order went through, but now I am not interested in the item anymore.  I can send it back & demand a full refund.  If it is not given, I can issue charge back with my credit card company.

I have to ask the idiots that thought up this system, is selling an extra turnip twaddler worth alienating a few paying customers? (I am sure I am not the only one that dose not appreciate this most unprofessional way of taking orders) If they want to automate ordering, then make it quick, stick to the product I called about and DO NOT keep me on the phone while a recording tries to sell me junk! I will just hang up and cancel the order.
