I was late in my morning shower, about 8 AM. I notice as I step into the shower that it is black outside. Despite the rain it should not be that dark. I open the shower window as the water pours over me. I hardly notice the water.
I see the palm trees out back bending over, and these are not skinny palms. I look up and see the clouds a dark and sickly green. “Oh no. Those are tornado clouds. Ack, don’t hit here. I do not want to be caught dead like this.”
I hurried through my shower, not taking my eyes off the outside. I had an appointment for my massage therapist and chiropractor that afternoon, so I was not going to leave until then.
Weather cleared up but the news was a buzz about the tornados in trinity. 2 towns south of me. Not thinking much of it. These things happen.
I arrive at my chiropractors office and ask to use the bathroom. I was told that they had to use the CVS’s bathroom because theirs was damaged by the tornado. In fact 4 stores and offices had damage. Fans blowing in the back. Well this is the part of trinity that got hit with the tornado.
Amber just happened to be in the office when it hit. Skipping across the front parking lot. Good thing it was early enough that no one was there in the front. Amber’s car, which was parked out back did not fair so well.
Amber ducked under the desk as she watched the tornado, hoping the glass in the front will hold. Lucky for her it did, but the pizza place a few doors down did not fair so well.
Amber is a beautiful girl. Like a model. Perfect. She refused to go on camera because she felt she was too toothy. I was floored. What do we do to our women when a perfect girl will not let herself be interviewed on camera, for a flaw so minor that no one notices but her. What is wrong with this picture? What is wrong with this society that a beautiful girl thinks this of herself?
