Police & empathy.

  • Mood: Introspective
  • Weather: Sunny & warm.
Having lost a few loved ones recently, I could not help but feel for the people on TV, desperate to get to loved ones in the hospital, only to be stopped by the police for a traffic violation.

I know it is easy for police that are always exposed to the worst of humanity to get disconnected.  Unfortunately, when people are distraught when a loved one is in the hospital, a officer must get his/her head out of dealing with the very dredges of humanity and realize that often, very law abiding citizens, will break the law, climb mountains, do anything to get to that person in their last moments or when they are in the hospital (which could very well be their last moments).

One thing that needs to be practiced by the police as much as target shooting, is empathy.  It is so easy to loose that precious thing that makes us human when exposed to so much negativity.
